Man Protests Being Deported

A man in Leigh, Greater Manchester spent more than 16 hours in a tree. He was in the tree because he was protesting his deportation. Investigators say he climbed the tree around 8:40 pm and spent the night in the tree. Eyewitnesses say that firefighters tried to talk the man out of the tree but the man only climbed higher into the tree. Around 12:40 the next day the man was helped out of the tree into a aerial platform and then detained under the Mental Health Act. The whole street, Holden Road, was closed throughout this incident. The man's name has not been released.
